Matchday 1 results

Tamale Super Ladies and Prisons Ladies settled for a 1-1 draw at the Yendi Youth Resource Centre, with a stoppage-time penalty denying the hosts victory in their Women’s Premier League opener.

Both teams started brightly in search of an early goal. Prisons Ladies pressed high and carved out some promising openings, but a disciplined Tamale defence held firm to keep the game goalless at the break.

The hosts finally broke through after the restart. Rahama Azimpaga Mohammed finished off a well-worked move in the 57th minute, sending the home fans into celebration.

Prisons Ladies pushed forward in response and were rewarded deep into added time, when Abigail Tutuwa kept her composure to convert from the spot in the 90+3rd minute and rescue a point.

Elsewhere, Supreme Ladies began their 2026/27 Ghana Women’s Premier League campaign with a goalless draw against FC Savannah at the Bantama Astro Turf.

Neither side could find a way through in a tightly contested affair. Supreme Ladies goalkeeper Akousa Safoaa was the standout performer and took the MVP award for her display.

Fosu Royal Ladies, meanwhile, waited until the closing stages to claim a win over Ashanti Ladies.

Both teams were well organised defensively in the first half and created little going forward. Fosu Royal took control of possession after the break, and Safiatu Mahamud struck the decisive goal in the 90th minute to give the home side all three points.
