Lebanese Rubbishes Malian’s Claims

The Malian allegedly brandishing a weapon to threaten the Lebanese

Hassan Zein, a Lebanese-Ghanaian businessman, has parried allegations of harassment levelled against him by a certain Haled Ould Ibrahim, a Malian national domiciled in Ghana.

Haled claimed in a newspaper story yesterday that Hassan Zein had engaged some police officers to harass him and his family members.

Reacting to the publication, Hassan Zein said it was rather the Malian who had taken the laws of Ghana into his hands and was attacking his family.

“Haled Ould Ibrahim and his cohorts are rather the ones harassing our family. They are threatening us with impunity,” he claimed.

According to Hassan Zein, the Malian who he said was playing victim has turned to social media to wage a persistent psychological warfare against him and his family, as well as business associates, and alleged that he even threatened them with death.

He said he had also reported a case of rape against Ould Ibrahim and his gang to the police, and the case was pending.

Last Saturday, matters got to a head when Ould Ibrahim turned to the  Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters to have Hassan Zein arrested for, as he put it, no crime committed.

“It is ironic to hear that I’m using the police to harass them.  I only came in contact with them when the National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Osman Sharubutu, invited me to come so he can be an arbiter in the matter after Mohamed Ould Ibrahim (Oumar), their father, jumped bail in a suspected criminal case,” he said.

“They are not happy with me because I wanted justice for the matter. I don’t want to say much out of respect to His Eminence, Chief Imam, who intervened to resolve the matter. The allegations are baseless,” he added.
