‘Let’s Take Advantage Of Gov’t Policies To Develop Ourselves‘

Regional Minister in white smock and white hat

Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu believes that the Upper East Region can develop faster if the various districts and communities, as well as the human resource of the area, will take advantage of the government’s developmental policies.

Aside government’s policies, the Regional Minister says the region has so many natural resources which could be extracted lawfully to better the economies and livelihoods of residents.

He was speaking at the 66th Independence Day Anniversary Parade at the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga.

Mr. Yakubu asked the residents and natives of the region to develop a culture of working together in dignity and self-belief with the sole purpose of developing the region and themselves.

“…it is high time that we begin to do things differently as a region for better results. Let us take advantage of all government policies and our natural resources to create the enabling environment to provide the needed job opportunities for the teeming youth.

As a people, we, therefore, have to consciously develop in ourselves the spirit of teamwork, self-belief, and determination to collectively make our region a place for all to live in dignity, and to bring back the fortunes of this great region and country.

Unfortunately, many of our young people seem to be losing sight of these and they need to be told and motivated to be hopeful.”

The Regional Minister also use the opportunity to call on the good people of the Upper East Region to be united and contribute to the development of the region, irrespective of their personal or group interests.

The 66th Independence Day parade saw security personnel from the various security urgencies operating in the region partaking in the March pass.

There were 8 Senior High Schools, 5 private Junior High Schools, 11 public Junior High Schools, 5 private primary schools, and 11 public primary schools on parade.

As expected, the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive, Rex Asanga, Assembly members from municipality, Heads of Departments, Chiefs and various religious leaders were present at the event.
