Mad Rush For New Kejetia

Scores of people at the new Kejetia Terminal

Many people in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, yesterday rushed to assess the new Kejetia Bus Terminal in Kumasi on Monday.

Scores of people from various walks of life trooped to the premises of the edifice to have a good look at the facility.

This was after the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) had pulled down the metal fence at the new terminal.

The KMA announced the opening the major roads near the Kejetia/Central Market Redevelopment project on Monday.

As part of the opening of the roads, the metal fence, which covered the terminal for about three years, had to be pulled down.

The removal of the metal fence exposed the new Kejetia Terminal Project to the public for the first time.

Some residents of the city therefore rushed to the place in the morning to have a good look at the beautiful facility.

Interestingly, some traders in the city also left their wares just to assess the Kejetia Bus Terminal.

Some of the people that spoke to DAILY GUIDE said they were really impressed with the newly constructed Kejetia Terminal.

“This is just a like a modern shopping mall comparable to other international ones across the world,” some people said.

Meanwhile, the KMA has vowed to open all the roads near the Kejetia Terminal to traffic from Monday as earlier promised.

KMA Public Relations Officer (PRO), Godwin Okumah Nyame, said military and police personnel were deployed to Kejetia early on Monday.

He explained that the security personnel had been ordered to evict the hawkers to ensure free flow of traffic.

Mr. Nyame entreated the hawkers to move to the satellite markets in the city to avoid problems with the law enforcement agents.
