‘Mahama Supervised Crass Corruption’

Godfred Yeboah Dame

Deputy Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame has cautioned Ghanaians against bringing back John Dramani Mahama to enable him to institute what he called the systematic acts of corruption which characterised his first administration.

He said there would be doom for the country if Ghanaians allow Mr. Mahama and his NDC to return to power.

Speaking as a special guest during the Eastern Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Wing activity dubbed ‘Boots On Ground!’ at Begoro in the Fanteakwa North District last Friday, Mr. Dame who hardly makes political pronouncements said, “In John Mahama’s time, the nation witnessed a president conveying over 60 per cent of the nation’s known bauxite resources to a company owned by his brother.”

“The nation has not forgotten about the Dzifa Attivor bus scandal, the Ford Expedition scandal, the guinea fowl episode and many more corrupt acts of a crass nature committed in the John Mahama administration. Mahama should, therefore, be rejected again at the ballot on December 7th.”
He said there were many more of such scandals under the Mahama administration which were being determined by the courts and would not like to make prejudicial statements.

He said the Akufo-Addo administration has brought dignity into governance, adding that the President has made a difference by governing in a manner free from such shameful scandals.

“We are reaping the fruits of good governance which is the envy of many nations in West Africa. The Free SHS policy, a strengthening of the Health Insurance System, free feeding of pupils in basic schools, effective management of Covid-19, free water and electricity since the onset of Covid-19 and many more important social intervention measures attest to the soundness of the Akufo-Addo administration.”

He urged the people to vote massively for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP candidates, saying that the government is on course towards tackling most of the basic challenges that has retarded progress.

The minister later made a personal donation of some motorbikes to the party and later supported them to supply campaign tools for the youth.

The NPP youth wing led by Henry Nana Boakye distributed 27 motorcycles, boxes of NPP and Akufo-Addo-branded T-shirts and paraphernalia, 2000 face shields, jerseys and footballs, NPP-branded air fresheners and many other things to the regional youth wing to boost their various campaigns.

Apart from Mr. Dame, other NPP leaders like Bryan Acheampong, Kingsley Agyemang, Michael Asare Bediako, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, Charles Owiredu, Maame Afua Akoto, Kozie Akosua Manu, Mark Sasu Mensah, among others, took turns to address the youth.

Two Step Back

Later on Friday at a fundraising ceremony at Avvra, Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia reiterated that a vote for Mr. Mahama and his NDC would bring Ghana “two steps back.”

He said the positioning of the candidates on the ballot was ‘divine’, asserting that the number one position of the NPP amounts to “one step forward”, while the number two for the NDC is “two steps back.”

Dr. Bawumia insisted that Mr. Mahama cannot be trusted to supervise the numerous good policy initiatives of the Akufo-Addo administration since the NDC has always shown inconsistency on their stance on those policies.

He said positive interventions such as the Free Senior High School (SHS), Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village One Dam, One District One Warehouse and the numerous infrastructural projects would continue when President Akufo-Addo is retained.

“Today, after seeing the major transformation taking place, they are back, calling on Ghanaians to vote for them to replace the NPP. The people of Ghana know what the NDC is made up of. We don’t want to repeat that dance, one step forward, and two steps backwards.”
