The Director General in Charge of Research and Planning, COP George Akuffu Dampare, has charged senior police officers to do their best to make a positive impact in the service even if nobody recognizes their efforts.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of Junior Command Course 8 at the Ghana Police Command and Staff College at Winneba in the Central Region, he said it is better to leave a legacy than to leave a bad name as a person.
He urged the senior police officers to exude a lifestyle worth remembering.
Forty-two (42) senior police personnel made up of deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) were drawn from the various districts, units and headquarters and confined for the five-week course.
They were taken through subjects such as police operational strategies, police investigations, police management, crime prevention strategies, operational planning, police transformation agenda, cyber crime, among other subjects.
The commandant of the college, COP Charles Tokor, expressed his gratitude to the personnel for the zeal of interest they demonstrated at lectures and in syndicate rooms.
“I must say without any reservations that the course has been very beneficial; this is buttressed by the feedback I got from interviews with some of the officers,” he emphasized.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Owusu Mpianin, a senior student of Junior Command Course 8 who shared his experience with DAILY GUIDE said they had the privilege to receive lecturers from very seasoned serving and retired officers as well as other experts in various fields.
He mentioned the names of the Inspector General of Police, Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong (retired); Commissioner of Police, Bright Oduro (retired) and COP Charles Tokor, commandant of the college.
The personnel also donated a professional digital camera and its accessories to the college.
An award for the overall best student went to DSP Charles Asiamah Adjei while DSP Grace Ansah Akrofi and DSP Charity Amankwah took awards for second and third positions respectively.
The ceremony was also attended by the Omanhene of Efutu traditional area, Nene Ghartey VII; Professor Yaw Ameyaw, Director of Academic Affairs at the University of Education, Winneba; Hon. John Ninson, Municipal Chief Executive of the Efutu area; senior police officers, among other personalities.
