The Kwahu Mpreaso District Police in the Eastern Region has arrested Daniel Kofi Bamfo, 28, for allegedly stabbing one Kwame Danso, a 35-year-old farmer, to death over pork.
The incident occurred at Biretwum, a suburb of Ntomem in the Kwahu South District on March 1, 2019.
Bamfo, according to the police, who sells the pork, accused Danso of destroying his business through his false statements to the public.
According to the police, Bamfo also claimed Danso’s false statements had prevented most customers from buying pork from him.
In the ensuing heat, Bamfo allegedly carried the leftover pork to Danso’s house to complain about the financial loss.
The two engaged in fierce fight at Danso’s house during which Bamfo allegedly stabbed him.
He was subsequently rushed to the hospital but later pronounced dead by the medical officials.
The Mpreaso District Police Commander, DSP Francis Oppong, who confirmed the incident on radio, said the wife of the deceased informed the police that the suspect came to their house to engage the husband Kwame Danso in fierce fight.
She told the police that in the course of fight, her husband was stabbed by Bamfo and rushed to Kwahu Government Hospital at Atibie for treatment.
DSP Oppong revealed that while the police were preparing to travel to the hospital to authenticate the allegations, Bamfo also came to the station with blood all over his body and claimed that Danso had injured him.
He said he was issued with a medical form to go the hospital for treatment.
DSP Oppong said at about midnight on 2nd March, the wife moved to the charge office at Bepong to inform the police that her husband had passed on.
The police, however, arrested the suspect after being discharged from the hospital and provisionally charged him with murder.
He added that the suspect was remanded into prison custody on Monday to assist in investigations.
