THE KWESIMINTSIM Police Command in the Western Region has arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly stealing and selling Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) meters.
The suspect, John Cudjoe, a resident in the area, was arrested on Friday, September 2, 2022.
Investigations revealed that the suspect after stealing the meters sold and installed them to unsuspecting residents in the area and beyond, at a fee.
According to reports, John Cudjoe and other suspects have been on the radar of ECG for a while now.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that the company’s recent market research revealed a number of unauthorised meters in the possession of numerous unwary clients.
Since then, John Cudjoe and other suspects have been ECG’s prime targets after the company’s investigations.
The Western Regional General Manager of ECG, Ing. Emmanuel Justice Ofori, confirmed the arrest and said the suspect will be processed by the police and arraigned before court.
“We will appeal to the court to give him a heavy sentence to deter others,” he stated.
He disclosed that ECG’s monitoring team is still on the lookout to arrest the network of unscrupulous citizens engaged in the crime.
