Derrick Amponsah
A 24-year-old excavator operator, Derrick Amponsah, who bit off part of a girl’s clitoris when she refused to give consent to him for sexual intercourse, has been jailed seven years by a Circuit Court at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region.
The convict, a resident of Manso-Yawkrom in the Amansie West District, was sentenced to prison for defiling and assaulting the 15-year-old girl, whom he lives with in the same neighbourhood.
Amponsah brutally and sexually attacked and bit the senior high school student after he had dragged her to his room on April 15, 2020 around 1:30 pm, the Bekwai Circuit Court heard.
He was charged with three counts of assault, defilement of a child and causing unlawful harm, contrary to Sections 84, 101 and 69 of the Criminal Offence Act 29/60.
He admitted assaulting and defiling a girl under the age of 16, but denied causing unlawful harm to the victim, and was jailed for seven years by the court.
Prosecutor Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ofori informed the court presided over by Joyce Boahen that Derrick Amponsah is a friend of the victim’s brother, and on April 15, at about 11:00 am, the convict phoned the victim to come and do laundry for him at home, which the victim agreed but failed to go to the house.
Chief Inspector Ofori narrated that Amponsah, who left home thereafter returned to discover his dirty clothes unwashed.
He stated that the convict proceeded to the house of the victim and asked her to go and wash the clothes for him, but she refused.
He later managed to lure the girl to follow him to his house, but on reaching there, the girl objected to enter the convict’s room after she had been asked to do so.
Amponsah then dragged her inside and pushed her onto the bed, and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her, after which he licked her.
According to prosecution, while licking, the convict in the process bit the girl’s clitoris, leaving her to bleed profusely.
Chief Inspector Ofori said Amponsah’s mother showed up and provided water for the victim to clean herself.
A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of Amponsah, who admitted using his fingers, penis and mouth to abuse the girl in his caution statement.
