The Ghana Bodybuilding & Fitness Association (GBFA) has launched its annual event dubbed ‘Man Ghana & Female Bikini’ at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Unlike previous events, this year’s edition seeks primarily to promote peace ahead, during and after the December 7 general election.

Themed ‘Violence Free Election’, this year’s competition will be held at the Osu Presby Hall, Accra, on November 7. It will serve as an avenue to select athletes into the national bodybuilding team (Black Muscles).

At its launch on Tuesday, GBFA president Abdul Haye Yartey admonished athletes to be extra disciplined and stay away from violence at all times.

“This year’s edition is going to be special and stronger than the previous year’s edition upon all the Covid-19 challenges. Be disciplined and stay away from violence. It is codenamed ‘peaceful contest’ and we are also appealing to our big men up there to do all they could to ensure an incident-free election in December. We are flexing for peace,” he stated.

At stake for athletes who will distinguish themselves with fine body sculpture are trophies and medals.

The men will battle for supremacy in physique and bodybuilding while their female counterparts will compete in fitness, physique, figure and wellness.
Preceding the event is the prejudge session which will assess the battle readiness of the combatants at the Accra Sports Stadium.

It was started in 2006, and it has been organised religiously except in 2013 and 2015.
