Manso Nkwanta Killings: Despicable

There is tension in the Ashanti Regional Police due to the report on the shooting of seven people at Manso Nkwanta, DAILY GUIDE has gathered.

The report of the five-member fact finding committee stated that the seven people who lost their lives were not robbers so the police were guilty of shooting them to death.

According to the report, government has ordered 21 policemen involved in the shooting to be interdicted.

Also, the police administration has been urged to start criminal investigations into the case which sparked chaos in the Zongo areas in Kumasi in July.

Anger

The paper learnt that the police in the region are surprised about the report of the committee.

Some policemen, who pleaded anonymity, said they suspected that what transpired during the Committee’s sittings had been shielded due to some inexplicable reasons.

They admitted that it was established that the seven people were not criminals or wanted by the police, as initially reported by a section of the media.

The aggrieved policemen, however, said it was also established that the seven people had criminal intention of visiting Manso Nkwanta on the day of the shooting.

The policemen expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the findings, alleging that some fishy deals had taken place.

They, therefore, challenged the committee to publish its findings so that everybody would see what really transpired during the sittings.
