Mantrac Ghana Supports One District, One Factory

Mantrac Ghana Limited, the sole authorized dealer in Caterpillar products, is taking steps to make its machinery and generators available at subsidized rates to facilitate the government’s flagship, One District, One Factory (1D1F) project.

The move, BUSINESS GUIDE gathered, forms part of efforts by the company to contribute to Ghana’s infrastructural development.

In line with this, the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Ghana Real Estate Developers, 1D1F Secretariat, Association of Road Contractors of Ghana and Mantrac held a ceremony dubbed, ‘Infrastructure Day’ on Thursday, July 26 in Accra at the offices of Mantrac.

Many speakers highlighted the role of Mantrac Ghana in the development of infrastructure in Ghana at the event.

Speaking at the event, Marketing Manager of Mantrac Ghana Limited, Daniel Paddy, said the company has resolved to offer subsidies to firms and agencies that want to purchase Mantrac equipment to undertake projects under the 1D1F Initiative.

According to him, “Contractors and all the stakeholders in the industry can make sure they are benefiting from our equipment to deliver on their infrastructural promises.”

Mr. Paddy expressed the hope that Mantrac would bring industry players together and educate them on how they can leverage on caterpillar equipment to deliver on their infrastructural promises.”

Caterpillar’s trucks, tractors, generators, among others, were displayed during the Infrastructure Day.

Managing Director of Mantrac Ghana Limited, Mr. Scott, explained that Ghana has over the years made significant progress in its infrastructural development, but stressed the need for further investments in the sector.

He said, “I used to work with Mantrac, formerly Tractor & Equipment in the early 2000s. I mention this because now when I returned 13 years later I see a huge improvement in the infrastructure of Ghana, many new roads built or refurbished, completion of the Tetteh Quarshie and Achimota Interchanges, the Accra Ring Road and the new Accra Airport soon to be opened and many other important developments.”

According to him, “To promote growth, competitiveness and the general wellbeing of citizens, governments have a responsibility to maintain appropriate levels of productive investment in infrastructure, and Mantrac is well placed to support you.”

He said: “Caterpillar stands for sustained investment in infrastructure. We hope to see a new investment in roads, railways, airports, bridges, energy and more in future.”

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako Atta, in a speech read on his behalf by his personal assistant Eugene Fred Ofori, commended Mantrac Ghana for contributing to the economic development of the nation through the provision of reliable and expert services to the Ghanaian end-users.

“It is worth mentioning that Mantrac Ghana has been linked with Ghana’s development by the provision of reliable and expert services to Ghanaian-end users which has contributed immensely to the economic development of our dear nation,” the Minister said.

Mr. Scott indicated that the company looks forward to spending another 80 years in Ghana.
