Mass Defections Hit NDC In Yagaba Kubori

Some ward executives, foot soldiers and constituency executive officers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Yagaba Kubori Constituency of the North East Region have defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

They came in their hundreds to the residence of the former Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Mustapha Ussif, before his acclamation as the NPP candidate for the 2020 parliamentary elections.

The Deputy Communication Director of the NDC, Seidu Damba Abdulai who had earlier resigned from the party spoke on their behalf and cited – lack of regards and respect for foot soldiers in the NDC and ward executives – as part of the factors which informed their decision.

He also said, the NDC does not have any comprehensive plan for the youth and were therefore destined to fail.

The NDC, he said, which had won almost all the elections in the constituency with the exception of 2012, had not done anything significant  for the people of Yagaba/Kubori Constituency and as patriotic citizens, they owed themselves a responsibility to ensure the constituency and district develop.

“The NPP in less than three years in government, has given the constituency 10 dams to help improve agriculture, has constructed a district warehouse situated at Yagaba township, connected over 10 communities to the National Grid, Planting for Food and Jobs, NABCO, employed over 500 youth under Youth in Afforestation, employed significant number of Mallam’s and Imams as Arabic instructors under the Ministry of Zongo Development.

The group later joined others to witness the acclamation of Ussif Mustapha at the Yagaba Senior High School, dressed in T Shirts of the candidate to be officially inducted into the party and outdoored as “Nation Builders”.
