American rapper, Meek Mill, has sparked headlines once again, this time by announcing his desire to obtain Ghanaian citizenship.

In a tweet posted on March 4, 2024, Meek Mill cited the oppressive treatment of Black individuals in America as a driving factor behind his decision.

The tweet which reads, “I wanna get citizenship in Ghana!!!! America made to tear black men down if you donā€™t follow orders!” garnered significant attention and reactions from his followers.

This declaration comes after Meek Mill’s first-ever visit to Ghana in December 2022, where he performed at Afro-Nation and expressed his admiration for the country.

During his visit, he had the opportunity to meet with President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House, although his subsequent filming of a music video at the seat of government stirred controversy among Ghanaians.

Despite the public outcry and subsequent apology from Meek Mill, his affection for Ghana has remained unwavering. Earlier this year, he expressed interest in collaborating with Ghanaian artists, further solidifying his connection to the country.
