A NEW TV channel dedicated to religious affairs of Methodism has been launched over the weekend in Kumasi by the Methodist Church of Ghana.

Wesleyan Television (WTV) is being hailed as an important milestone in the television industry dominated by charlatan religious broadcasts, which continue to taint Christianity.

The ground-breaking TV channel will offer users an adulterated teaching of sound doctrines, preaching of the word of God, and bring people to the saving-knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Most Rev Dr Paul K. Boafo, who launched the new TV station, said the WTV is considered a religious channel to spread holiness.

“We have come this far to look at evangelism from another dimension. Previously, we would have gone out into the pulpit to preach to our people in the chapels or use PA system to reach to our people. We found that it was limited as we want to reach out to many lost souls,” he noted.

Bishop Boafo said the Methodist Church wants to “rescue the perishing and care for the dying”, adding that now the church has a medium of TV channel it would be used to project positive values to impact on the life of society.

Wesleyan TV was partially founded by media entrepreneur, Mr Stephen Boateng aka Kwabena Kese of Kesben Media in Kumasi.

He said he is hoping the channel will appeal to all manner of people, who might be receptive to a media outlet devoted exclusively to their interests and experiences.
