The Millenium Excellence Foundation (MEF), a non-for-profit organization, has unveiled its 20th anniversary and awards.
The launch ceremony took place at the Labadi Beach Hotel on Thursday, in Accra and it was held under the patronage of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
It is held every five years and honours the best institutions and individuals in all sectors of the Ghanaian economy for their varied contributions to national development.
The MEF, served by honourable governors over the years, deemed it a responsibility to ensure that it recognised those who believe in uplifting of the African spirit of excellence.
For this year’s fifth edition awards, more than 1,650 individuals and organisations have been nominated in 35 categories and the public would be called upon to help select deserving winners through a nominating process.
In his remarks at the launch, the President of the MEF, Ambassador Ashim Morton, said, “We want this year to be a milestone in enhancing the MEF’s profile in the world.
“As such, all patrons and supporters will have to align themselves with our mandate, past laureates and soon to be mentioned 2020 laureates to strive for excellence,” he added.
Ghanaian International Evangelist, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, commended organizers for sustaining the awards over the last 20 years.
