Miss Ghana Foundation Rescues Boy Suffering From Scoliosis

The Miss Ghana Foundation has donated an amount of $10,000 to the Foundation of Orthopaedics & Complex Spine (FOCOS) Hospital in Accra.

The donation was part payment of a total of $20,000 needed for the surgery of a sixteen-year-old scoliosis patient, Richard Kusi.

Scoliosis is a life-threatening medical condition which occurs when a person’s spine has a sideways curve. The curve is usually ‘S’ or ‘C’ shaped.

Presenting a dummy cheque, the Chairperson of Miss Ghana Foundation, Inna Patty, praised FOCOS Hospital for the good work done, and as promised during their first visit on January 10, 2019, the foundation redeemed its promise of sponsoring the cost of surgery for a boy suffering from scoliosis.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of FOCOS Hospital, Dr. Arthur Sackeyfio, an orthopaedic surgeon, expressed gratitude to the Miss Ghana Foundation and educated the team on scoliosis.

Present at the donation were Nana Ama Benson (Miss Ghana 2018 winner), Laila Issaka and Elizabeth Mary Maclean (runners-up), Richard Aboagye (Mr. World Ghana 2019) and James Boakye Danquah & Bright Ofori (runners-up).

The amount of $10,000 was raised through the kind support of Ghana’s Ambassador to China, H.E Edward Boateng.

“We trust that corporate Ghana, as well as benevolent individuals, would also come to our aid to help raise the remaining $10, 000,” Inna Patty said on Wednesday.
