A TOYOTA Land Cruiser belonging to Asutifi South Member of Parliament and former Local Government Minister, in the erstwhile Mahama administration, Collins Dauda, last Sunday night killed 5 passengers instantly after it collided with an Opel Astra taxi cab near Ntotroso.
The landcruiser was said to be heading towards Ntotroso in the Asutifi South District but on reaching a section of the road between Wamanahinso and Atuahenekrom, it collided with the Opel Taxi cab with registration GW 1139 Y with 6 passengers on board.
According to police in the region, the accident occurred at about 11:45 pm on Sunday night. Four passengers in the taxi cab and the driver of the taxi, Kwaku Isaac, 27, died on the spot and their bodies were sent to St Elizabeth’s Hospital morgue at Hwedie. Two others who also sustained serious injuries have also been admitted at the same hospital.
The land cruiser with registration number GW 1897 -17 was being driven by Kofi Danso, 53. It is not clear whether the MP was in the car at the time of the accident. The driver of the land cruiser has been detained to assist police in their investigations.
Unconfirmed information had it that those who sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital have also died later. Hospital authorities were, however, tight-lipped about it when DAILY GUIDE contacted them.
The MP’s car was badly damaged while the taxi cab was severely mangled.
The MP was at Sunyani last Saturday and was part of those who cast their votes to elect regional executives for the opposition NDC.
