Music Stakeholders Urged To Support 3Music Awards And VGMA

Radio and TV personality, George Quaye, has called on music stakeholders as well as event organisers to refrain from comparing the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) to the 3Musc Awards.

“I think we should try to walk away from this comparison between VGMA and 3Music; let us encourage and push both,” he said.

His comments come after some fans and a section of the music industry stakeholders took to social media to draw some comparisons between the 3Music Awards 2021 and VGMA.

Speaking on ‘Daybreak Hitz’, on Hitz FM, George Quaye, the then Public Relations Officer for Charter House Productions, said such unhealthy comparisons only draw the industry back from its progress.

Some fans say 3Music Awards did a better job hosting its awards shows, while others thought VGMA organisers did the work better.

Others went as far as criticising 3Music Award organisers for some of their pre-recorded performances they had enjoyed earlier in the year, while others stood on their ground and applauded the organisers for their well organised shows.

Some fans also drew some similarities between the two shows, among others.

However, George Quaye who is also an event organiser believes that the two shows should be promoted equally and not paired against each other.

According to him, this can encourage more event organisers to host more events and shows, which eventually contributes to the industry’s growth.

“Those who have the potential to change the mindset of people on this should do that. Where we sit, we should not be the ones to fuel that kind of competition. I think what we should do is to encourage all event planners,” he added.
