Abiana

Abiana says grabbing two major nominations for the 2021 edition of the prestigious Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) is a big deal to her career.

The talented singer has been nominated for the ‘Best Female Vocal Performance’ and ‘Songwriter of the Year’, with her first single titled ‘Adun Lei’.

Competing with top guns like Diana Hamilton, Kofi Kinaata, Joe Mettle, Adina and Episode in the songwriter category, Abiana couldn’t help it but keep celebrating her first ever VGMA nomination.

“Wow my first nomination, songwriter of the year, for ‘adunlei’ my first single.  It gives me so much joy that I have been nominated for this category of the awards,” she wrote on Instagram on Monday.

“This one here means a lot to me. I am super grateful to everyone who supported my craft from start, my management, the +233 records, all the media groups that have aired and played my pieces, and then to you, I mean you reading this,” she added about the Best Female Vocal Performance category.

Nominations for this year’s edition of the VGMA were released on Saturday. A number of the country’s artistes who have done very well in the year under review have all made it onto the nominees list. Sarkodie, KiDi, Medikal, Diana Hamilton and Kuami Eugene are among those artistes, and are competing for Artiste of the Year, the most coveted category of the VGMA.

Abiana, who is a singer, songwriter and recording artiste, is hopeful to make her followers proud by winning her categories.

The singer, who graduated from GIMPA with BSc in Marketing in 2016, is a delight to watch on stage and a joy to listen to. She is an eclectic mix of styles that is evolving into what she calls soul-life music.
