Ghanaian fashion icon Nana Akua Addo stole the spotlight at Milan Fashion Week with a striking look by designer Chinasa Martins, inspired by Thom Browne.
The ensemble reimagined classic Thom Browne codes — a crisp white button-down shirt and a preppy plaid tie — and pushed them into full avant-garde territory. Oversized sculptural sleeves, crafted from soft cream fabric in giant braided ropes, wrapped around the shoulders and arms, completely transforming the silhouette.
Underneath, a fitted plaid skirt in bold stripes of blue, green and red echoed Thom Browne’s signature pattern language, while thigh-high plaid lace-up boots extended the print from head to toe.
The braided sleeve sculptures added dramatic volume, turning a simple shirt-and-tie base into a wearable art piece.
Nana completed the look with oversized green sunglasses and bold red flower drop earrings — pops of colour that stood out against the neutral tones of the braided fabric. Her sleek cropped hairstyle kept the focus firmly on the dramatic proportions of the outfit.
The look has been hailed as one of the boldest fashion moments of this year’s Milan Fashion Week.
