The record is a rare peer-level collaboration between West and East Africa – not a feature or a moment of convenience, but two fully-formed artists from opposite ends of the continent finding real common ground in song.
Trigmatic, one of Ghana’s most enduring and respected music figures, brings over twenty years of experience and five Ghana Music Awards to the collaboration. Over the years, he has built a body of work that spans the full arc of contemporary Ghanaian music – lyrical, assured, and rooted in a culture he has spent his career championing.
On ‘Pretty Bad’, his voice carries the weight of that history without being burdened by it, offering what is described as his clearest statement yet that his story is bigger than any one market.
Azawi, one of East Africa’s most beloved and singular artists, compliments the record with her distinct sound. Rooted in the rhythmic and melodic traditions of Uganda and stretched across the wider soundscape of the continent, her music has made her a defining voice of her generation.
