Nana B being assisted to cut the tape
The National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye aka Nana B, has cut the sod for the construction of a 30-bed children’s ward at the Tafo Government Hospital in Kumasi to mark his 40th birthday.
The project, dubbed: ‘Nana B @40’, includes an OPD clinic, and it is expected to be completed within 18 months of commencement.
When completed, the project will have a pediatric OPD with a waiting area, two consulting rooms and a treatment room at the right wing of the hospital.
The children’s ward, on the other hand, will be at the left wing and will consist of a 20-bed ward, neonatal intensive care unit with three intensive care stations, special baby care unit (SCBU) with a minimum of five incubators, nurse’s station and storage room.
There will also be staff restrooms and inpatients’ washrooms.
Elated Nana B said the project would contribute to the delivery of primary healthcare for children, apart from providing for sick children in emergency and chronic settings.
Minister of Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, who graced the occasion, commended the NPP Youth leader for taking up the initiative to help children receive the needed health care.
The medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Kwame Agyeman, said the facility which serves about 34,000 children, could not meet the current workload.
He expressed gratitude to Nana B for choosing Tafo Government Hospital to put up such a facility.
In attendance were the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, Tafo-Pankrono MP, Ekow Vincent Asaffuah, the CEO of Youth Employment Agency, Justin Kodua Frimpong (CEO of YEA) and the Chief of Tafo, Nana Agyen Ababio.
