THE MORTAL remains of Philip Basoah, the deceased Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumawu, were finally laid to rest at Kumawu on Saturday.
Prior to the burial ceremony, a mammoth church service was held, where his family, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and other people read their tributes.
The various tributes highlighted Philip Basoah’s good works in his private and public life, especially his roles to improve Kumawu as the lawmaker of the constituency.
The late Philip Basoah’s final funeral rites were attended by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
Ministers of State such as Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, the Energy Minister and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah graced the solemn event.
The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare and NPP bigwigs like Justin Kodua Frimpong, Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye and Bernard Antwi Boasiako were also present.
Philip Basoah, it would be recalled, was unwell for sometime and passed on some months ago, sparking anguish and melancholy in the NPP.
The burial and funeral rites were characterised by wailing, as hundreds of mourners openly shed tears for the departed MP.
