President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended market women in Accra for their cooperation during Monday’s fumigation exercise in the markets.
He said they heeded the directive by the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDCEs) in the Greater Accra Region for all markets to observe a temporary closure to enable the fumigation exercise to take place and it was done without any bad incident.
The President, therefore, invited leaders of the various market associations to the Jubilee House yesterday to express appreciation for their cooperation.
He took the opportunity to urge them to continue to maintain strict self-discipline and practise prescribed social distancing and enhanced hygiene protocols in all aspects as prescribed by health experts in the fight against the COVID-19, promising to step up government’s efforts to contain the spread of the virus.
