Nana Tuffour’s One-Week Observance On June 29

The one-week remembrance ceremony of legendary highlife musician, James Nana Tuffour, aka 9924, will take place on June 29, 2020.

The ceremony, which is expected to attract a lot of people including high profile personalities in the creative industry, politicians, friends as well as his fans, will take place at the Ahenboboano-Manhyia Palace in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

BEATWAVES gathered that the date for the burial and funeral rites for the late musician, who joined his ancestors on Monday, June 15 after a short illness, would be announced.

Some of the top musicians who are expected to perform at the ceremony include Abrantie Amakye Dede, Rex Omar, Pat Thomas, Amandzeba and a host of others. They will entertain fans as well as pay tribute to their departed colleague.

The ceremony would be held together with that of his brother, Kwame Owusu Tuffour, aged 58, popularly known as Black Moses.

The late Nana Tuffour is known for hit songs such as Akatakyiwa, Odo Kakra Sika Kakra, Owuo Sei Fie, Me Yere Dada and Abeiku among others.

Most of his songs were recorded at Bodo Staiger’s Rheinklang studio in Duesseldorf, where other highlife stars had produced their hits.

He is credited with over 15 albums.
