‘National Security’ Operatives Beaten Over Disputed Land

AT LEAST three supposed National Security operatives have been hospitalised after they were heavily manhandled over a disputed land at Ejisu Jamasi in the Ashanti Region.

The identities of the three victims were not readily known but police report said they (victims) required immediate medical attention in order to survive the attack.

Also, two cars, including a Nissan Hardbody Pickup and Toyota RAV4, believed to belong to the so-called National Security operatives, had also been vandalised.

No arrest had been made yet but the police at Ejisu were leaving no stone unturned in their bid to arrest the culprits to assist in investigations after the incident on Monday.

A police report said there was dispute between the Jamasi Stool and the Ejisu Paramount Stool, as the two feuding stools were contesting a huge tract of land.

The case is currently before the Judicial Committee of the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, therefore both feuding parties have been restrained from working on the land.

But the Ejisuhene recently realized that some people were working on the disputed land and he engaged the ‘National Security’ operatives to stop those people.

“The Ejisumanhene sought the assistance of the National Security to restrain developers, who procured their lands from the past Odikoro who is deceased,” it said.

The police report further noted that on Monday the National Security operatives stormed the land, where they met a group of people, who attacked them.

According to the police, reports indicated that a Nissan Hardbody vehicle, registered AS 177-16, belonging to the National Security operatives, was instantly vandalised.

“Police, led by the district commander, visited the scene and saw a Nissan Hardbody pick-up, registered AS 177-16, supposedly belonging to the National Security operatives with its windscreen and door glasses completely smashed and tyres deflated. Another Toyota RAV4 with registration number HE 997-15, located about 3km away, was also vandalized just as the first one,” the police report indicated.

The report also said, “Before police got to the scene, there were blockades erected at three separate locations,” a clear indication that perhaps there were violent scenes at the place early on.

“Information also gathered from Samson Offei, one of the National Security Operatives indicated that three of his colleagues had been taken to Anwiam Hospital located at Afful Nkwanta,” the report added.
