The Ghana Navy will host an international maritime defence exhibition and conference from Tuesday,July 6 to Thursday, July 8, 2021 at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.

A statement from the Ghana Armed Forces Public Relations Directorate states that the conference is being held in partnership with Great Minds Events LLC (GM).

This edition of the IMDEC 2021 will have greater participation from Regional Air Forces, as the Ghana Air Force will be an official event partner to highlight the significance of air-maritime cooperation, the statement pointed out.

The conference will bring together 15 Chiefs of Navies and Air Forces from across Africa and other international maritime experts such as speakers, panelists, delegates, and exhibitors from global defence industries to share and deliberate on maritime security issues facing the Gulf of Guinea region, now threatened by a large scale piracy.

The aim of the conference is to enhance regional cooperation and interoperability and to promote inter-agency approaches to curbing maritime security. It will also highlight the link between a secured maritime domain and a developed blue economy.

The theme of the conference is ‘Maritime Security and Trade, the Nexus between a Secured Maritime Domain and a Developed Blue Economy.’

There will be site visit by the attendees and delegates to the Western Naval Command at Sekondi and the Air Force Base, Takoradi on Tuesday,July 6 2021 followed by the official opening of the conference on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

The conference will end on July 8, 2021 with the Chief of the Defence Staff Vice Admiral Seth Amoamo performing the closing ceremony.
