Lawyer Sulley Sambian with Nii Doodo Dodoo
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Lawyer Sulley Sambian, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Council represented by the Country Director, Nii Doodo Dodoo, in Tamale concerning VET Toolbox II.
The VET Toolbox project is an EU-funded project in Ghana that aims to support demand-driven and inclusive Vocational Education and Training (VET) and cater to investment needs through targeted skills development and VET programmes.
The €1.150.000 project which was launched in March 2023 is being delivered by the British Council being part of the European Union-funded VET Toolbox initiative with support from the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and focuses on supporting skills development in the agriculture sector and aims to establish and pilot a framework for developing skilled human resources within the scope of the Savannah Zone Agricultural Productivity Improvement Project (SAPIP).
The project will be implemented in the Northern, North East, and Savannah regions with training areas such as Tractor Operator’s Skills and Attitude, Farm Enterprise Management, and Agronomy.
The Lawyer Sambian at the signing of the MoU, indicated that the VET toolbox ll is designed to equip indigenes of Northern Ghana with Agri TVET skills, as part of a holistic effort to increase agricultural productivity, foster job creation and ultimately improve livelihoods across three regions within the NDA Zone.
On behalf of the Board and Management of the Northern Development Authority, the CEO extends his deep-seated appreciation to the British Council, the technical team, and all stakeholders associated with the project for working assiduously towards a speedy advancement of all the preliminary processes.
“TVET has evolved as one of the Government’s flagship policies to create decent jobs for the youth, so we can contribute our quota to the socio-economic development of Ghana,” he said.
According to him, the VET Toolbox project prominently aligns with Strategic Objectives 1 – 4 of the NDA’s Medium-Term Development Strategy, dubbed, “Agenda For Rapid Transformation and Job Creation”.
He assured all stakeholders of his commitment to execute the obligations under the MoU to the slightest detail to achieve its set targets and objectives.
