THERE WAS tension at the Asokwa Circuit Court in Kumasi yesterday as scores of blood-thirsty National Democratic Congress (NDC) sympathisers stormed the place to cause commotion.

The Suame Constituency NDC Youth Organiser, Razak Koampa Avoliya, who has been apprehended over his alleged “kill for power” comments, was billed to appear before the Asokwa Circuit Court.

Chanting Of War Songs

The angry-looking NDC goons, including women and stoutly-built men, chanted war songs throughout the court sitting.

Some of the NDC goons, complained bitterly that the Suame NDC Youth Organiser has been wrongly arrested on political grounds, therefore the court should set him free.

Heavy Security

Despite their threats and insults, the NDC goons could not bypass the iron-clad security network that was provided at the Asokwa Circuit Court premises by heavily-armed policemen, who were stationed there.

Significantly, the police personnel displayed high level of professionalism as even in the face of provocations, they did not fire a single bullet. The policemen worked tirelessly to ensure that the sitting was not interrupted.

‘Warmonger’ Remanded

The court granted an appeal by the prosecution team by remanding Koampa Avoliya, who has been charged with ‘Offensive Conduct’, to police custody to reappear before the same court on February 14, 2023.

Before the court remanded the suspect, lawyers for the Suame NDC Youth Organiser had prayed to the court to grant their client bail, promising that Koampa Avoliya would cooperate with the investigators.

But the prosecution team also argued that the case was in its initial stages, therefore the suspect should be remanded into police custody so he could readily assist the police investigators.

Suspect In High Spirits

Meanwhile, Koampa Avoliya, nicknamed ‘Mosquito’, was seen in high spirits even as he was whisked into a waiting police vehicle to serve his remand term.
