NDC Ready For ‘War’- General Mosquito Hints

The newly elected National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has threatened the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the newly elected executives of his party are willing to sacrifice their lives for electoral victory in the 2024 general elections.

According to Aseidu Nketiah, “We are prepared to sacrifice everything and I mean everything including our lives to achieve victory”.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah explained that “wherever impunity becomes law, resistance becomes a duty. Looking at the array of executives elected today I have no doubt the party wants us to carry the battle to the elephant, we cannot let the country, and we cannot let the party down.”

General Mosquito as famously called said this when he was giving a victory speech Sunday morning after taking the oath of office at the Accra Sports Stadium, where further threats that the new executives will take the fight to the NPP to wrest power from them in the next election.

He claimed “We are not taking the confidence for granted, Ghana is in crisis and the NDC is also at a crossroads. What we need is unity, we pledge on behalf of myself and the new executives that in the coming days our first assignment is to work to unite the party and bring everybody on board even as we march forward to defeat the elephant and set the nation on the path of progress.”

He said winning the 2024 polls for the party is non-negotiable.

“You the delegates of our party have given us the mandate to secure the second independence of Ghana.

“We know the path will not be smooth but we will stand up to the challenge and we are prepared to sacrifice everything and I mean everything including our lives to make sure this country is delivered,” he said.

Relations With Ofosu

He also extended an olive branch to all defeated candidates in the just-ended National Delegates Congress of the party.

He said their defeat is not one in the actual sense but an indication that the party needs them to serve in other capacities.

He promised that all human resource deployment to be made by his administration will include these candidates, who only missed out on securing the votes of delegates.

He mentioned his closest contender and former boss, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, vowing to keep their friendship of a quarter-century and not sacrifice it over the contest.

“I will like to thank most importantly Samuel Ofosu Ampofo who has been my friend for 25 years. I value friendship so I don’t think we are going to sacrifice that friendship because of this contest.”

He, however thanked the delegates for trusting them and also called on party members to unite and eschew hatred and bitterness to secure victory in the 2024 general elections.
