Christopher Beyere Baasongti

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Techiman South Constituency, Christopher Beyere Baasongti has sued the Electoral Commission and the clerk of parliament for declaring Martin Adjei- Mensah as MP for Techiman South.

In a suit filed at the Wenchi High Court, Mr. Beyere is challenging the parliamentary results of his constituency and wants the declaration of Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah as the winner of the 2020 Parliamentary election withdrawn.

“ We want the court to compel the Electoral Commission to collate the polling station results in the constituency in the presence of the two-party candidates, adding, were are hoping to win 2020 parliamentary results when the right thing is done, “ he said.

Mr. Beyere stated in his suit that there was no collation of results for the parliamentary election in Techiman South constituency, and, therefore, no declaration of results could have been made on the 8th of December 2020 as purported to have been done.
The Techiman South Constituency forms part of the Constituency the NDC believes to have won in the just ended general elections.

The constituency was characterized by violence when a clash ensued between some supporters of the two political parties and security agencies during the collation of result which led to the death of two persons.
