Some avid supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have started questioning how prepared their party and its flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, were in going to court to challenge the results of the 2020 general elections without any concrete evidence to prove their case.
Most of these devoted and enlightened NDC supporters have now come to the realization that the party’s leadership is only deceiving them that President Akufo-Addo did not win the December 7, 2020 elections and that there should definitely be a re-run
Hundreds of such NDC supporters have taken to social media to lambast their party for “failing” to prove to the Supreme Court that indeed President Akufo-Addo did not secure 50% plus votes in the elections which automatically calls for a re-run of the elections that the party through its flag bearer is asking for.
The supporters are also demanding that their party accounts for its own collated results in the just-ended election instead of deceiving them with the court case.
Leading the call for the party to be truthful to its supporters, the Executive Director of the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson, questioned why the party could spend millions of cedis in camping people at the party’s headquarters to do some work on the said infractions in the 2020 election results without coming out with their output.
“Where is their report, and what did they find?” he fumed on social media.
According to the ASEPA boss, the NDC created the impression that it had good data and therefore “contracted a biostatistician to do some analysis on the election results for you (NDC). He made several discoveries which featured in a viral video that got everyone questioning the integrity of the elections based on how basic his presentation was.”
“Fast forward a few weeks later, you went to court and out of the five witnesses you chose to submit to the court, none included the biostatistician who you contracted to work on the election results analysis,” he wondered.
More Fire
One other member of the opposition NDC, Efo Kormi, in a social media bashing, wondered why President Akufo-Addo kept getting 51% based on EC’s “ever changing” figures in court contrary to his party’s own parallel tabulated figures.
“Where are our own parallel tabulated figures which support Justice Aheto’s claims that we relied on to go to court,” he queried.
“We all saw in court and we were relying on the various figures of the EC, a particular candidate kept getting at least 51%. Questions are being raised on the basis of that claim of ours and the known person who led that calculation is being questioned about it and people have a problem with it,” Mr. Kormi said in his post on Facebook.
According to him, people and for that matter NDC leaders should not assume that the rest of NDC supporters who have brains of their own cannot do simple analysis on their own.
“I am tempted to say the most important basis for going to court as stated in the NDC petition is to have a re-run of the elections based on the fact that nobody (candidate) got more than 50% of the valid votes and that even if you take any one of the “ever changing” figures of the EC and calculate the various percentages for each candidate, no candidate will get more than 50% of the valid votes cast,” he noted.
Other NDC supporters on social media were also very furious with Mr. Mahama and the national executive members of the party for raising the hopes of ardent supporters high but ending up wasting the time and resources of the party in court.
