One out of two Nigerians who allegedly robbed and kidnapped a woman at Achimota Mile 7 and demanded ransom from her husband has been arrested.
The suspect has been identified as Isaac Aigbona, 24.
Briefing DAILY GUIDE, the acting Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Kweku Boadu Peprah, said the incident occurred on Monday around 9:30pm.
He said the two Nigerians scaled the wall of the 50-year-old victim and laid ambush in the house until she returned from work.
“They pounced on her, robbed her of an unspecified amount of money and transported the victim in her Hyundai Elantra car to a thick bush at Amasaman.
The suspects, who had then pointed a gun on the victim, took her husband’s mobile phone number and called him to demand money.
The acting Accra Regional Police Commander said fortunately a police vehicle patrolling the area emerged after seeing the victim’s car parked there for a while.
“Immediately the suspects spotted the police patrol car, one of them jumped into the thick bush and bolted, but the police were able to apprehend Isaac Aigbona.
“The other suspect, currently at large (name withheld), is being pursued by the police,” he added.
