Nigeria’s Data On Coronavirus Not Accurate -Toke Makinwa

Toke Makinwa, a Nigerian media personality, says she doubts the figures of coronavirus cases released by the Nigerian government.

According to her, she does not think the figures are accurate.

“So are we going to continue to believe there are no more cases of coronavirus in Nigeria??? I don’t think they have accurate data, guys pls be safe out there,” she cautioned Nigerians on Twitter on Tuesday.

She made the statement hours after a third case of the deadly virus was confirmed in Nigeria.

According to Nigeria media reports, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 announced five new cases of the virus.

The Africa’s most populous nation recorded its first and second cases of the deadly coronavirus disease between February and March 2020 respectively.

About a week ago, it was announced that the person with the second case of the virus had tested negative, reported Pulse Nigeria.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) which has been declared a pandemic has now infected more than 115,800 people and killed over 4,200 worldwide, according to CNN reports. Ghana has recorded seven confirmed cases while government impressed upon citizens to follow safety measures to prevent and contain the spread of the virus.
