The National Lottery Authority (NLA) plans on regularizing the operations of illegal lotto operators. According to a release from the Public Relations Unit of the authority, such operators would be required to pay a prescribed fee so licences would be issued to them to enable them to sell products of the NLA.
“In view of this, the National Lottery Authority hereby directs all illegal Lotto operators who have applied and paid up the prescribed fees to pick up and execute copies of the Lotto Retail Licensing Agreement from the Head Office of the NLA within seven days from the date of this publication” the release pointed out.
Those who fail to meet the foregone the release stated will not enjoy the licensing window for the 2018/2019 period.
It is unlawful under Act 722 and L.I. 1948 to manufacture, distribute, sell or retail Lotto products and services without authorization from the NLA members of the public have been reminded.
Accordingly, all those engaged in illegal lottery operations will be put before any of the eleven lotto courts inaugurated across the country to ensure compliance and prosecution of lotto-related offences.
The release restated the commitment of the NLA to sanitizing the gaming industry and would accordingly deploy all lawful means to oust the operations of unauthorized or unlicensed Lotto operators.
