The New Patriotic Party (NPP) women’s wing has resolved to unite and work hard towards achieving the party’s objective of winning the 2024 general elections.
As part of measures to help the party break the eight year election cycle, the female activists of the party would be empowered to become abreast with the NPP’s numerous social interventions to propagate those policies to the electorate at the grassroot level.
The NPP women believe that it is through this that voters would know the party better and join them to win in 2024.
Deputy NPP National Women’s Organiser, Mimi Duah, disclosed this at a women’s conference organized in the Takoradi constituency.
It was on the theme “What is the Role of the Ghanaian Women in the midst of the Economic Challenges?”
She noted that the government was leaving no stone unturned to address the current economic difficulties which have occurred due to a global pandemic as well as the Russian and Ukraine war.
The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah assured the women that the redevelopment of the over 100-year-old Takoradi main market, popularly called ‘Market Circle’ would be completed.
He mentioned that about 10 other new markets are also set for construction in the various metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies across the region.
“With this, we expect that our women and other traders would get more space to embark on their economic activities”, he said.
He revealed that about 160 boreholes are being constructed in certain hard-to-reach areas in the region to help the residents have access to potable water, in line with Sustainable Development Goal six.
He also assured that the Takoradi PTC Interchange which would help to improve traffic flow in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in particular, would also be completed.
“The contractor will soon return to finish the project. And there are additional interchanges to be built in the metropolis including one at the Paa-Grant Roundabout in Takoradi, he noted.
The Western Regional Women Organizer of the NPP, Josephine Yaa Odoom also pledged that the women in the area would move all out to galvanize grassroot support to ensure the NPP retains power in 2024.
