Tic, Okyeame Kwame, Gyedu Blay Ambulley
Popular hiplife artiste, songwriter and producer Okyeame Kwame, has threatened to sue veteran highlife musician, Gyedu Blay Ambolley over a defamatory statement he made against him.
Gyedu Blay Ambolley is reported to have said in an interview on an Accra based 3Fm that Okyeame Kwame was given an amount of GH¢50,000 by Obour’s administration as loan which he failed to pay back.
He (Ambolley) insisted that he had document to prove that Okyeame Kwame actually received the money from Obour as loan from the creative arts fund of two million cedis given to MUSIGA by the late president Atta Mills’ government.
He also alleged that Bessa Simons the acting MUSIGA President, Ben Brako and TiC also benefited from the two million cedis.
“Apart from the fact that Ambolley’s statement is a total fabrication and untrue, I am in utter shock that a person old enough to be my husband’s father who should know better can maliciously lie confidently about something that has never happened,” Okyeame Kwame’s wife said in a statement.
According to Mrs. Annica Nsiah-Appau, her husband (Okyeame Kwame) has never taken GH¢50,000 from Obour or MUSIGA, when Obour was the president.
Mrs Appau, who is also Okyeame Kwame’s manager, argued that Okyeame Kwame had never taken GH¢50,000 from any individual, agency or institution that was associated with MUSIGA and Obour directly or indirectly that he never paid as being speculated by Gyedu Blay Ambolley.
“Whoever cares to know must note that for the whole year or so that Kwame worked at MUSIGA, the net total of all monies he was given for driving to meetings, sharing his experiences and late night brainstorming was less than GH¢3,000,” she added.
Okyeame Kwame in an interview with BEATWEAVES denied Ambolley’s claims saying “Ambolley has perpetrated fabricated lies about my character and reputation.”
According to him, his lawyers had already written to Gyedu Blay Ambolley giving him 72 hours to apologise to Okyeame Kwame or face a lawsuit.
Hiplife artiste Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah, aka TiC, in an interview with BEATWAVES, said he had decided not react to Ambolley’s claims because he saw him as a frustrated veteran highlife musician.
“I was surprised when I heard the news that Ambolley said I benefited from the two million cedis. I respect him a lot. I see him as a father so I don’t want to react to his baseless allegation. Maybe he made the allegations out of frustration,” TiC said smiling.
On his part, Simons also denied benefiting from the two million cedis, saying “Ambolley should be ignored since he is well known when it came to making unfounded allegations against those he hates in the music industry.”
The ‘Belembe’ hitmaker said he couldn’t fathom why Ambolley was attempting to tear him down, adding that he is doing all he can to destroy MUSIGA’s image.
According to him, Ambolley speaks very ignorantly. “I have decided not to respond to him because of my relationship with him. He is like my brother,” he added.
