Otumfuo Destools Kwapra Chief

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II

THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled the Kwapra Chief, Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanin, over gross misconduct.

The beleaguered traditional leader was found guilty of indulging in double sale of lands and also flouting the orders of the Asantehene, his overlord.

Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanin was destooled during a Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) meeting at the Manhyia Palace, presided over by Otumfuo on Monday December 11, 2023.

The Kwapra Chief was not present at the meeting but that did not deter the Asantehene from cracking the whip as he declared the Kwapra stool vacant.

Before destooling the Kwapra Chief, Otumfuo had attentively listened to lengthy complaints against the Kwapra chief from the elders of Kwapra.

The elders had accused the destooled chief of indulging in double sale of lands and also refusing to appear before the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace.

Otumfuo, who seemed not happy with the misconduct of the Kwapra chief, ordered for the necessary traditional rites to be performed to destool the chief.

According to the Asante Monarch, he had had enough of the gross misconduct of Nana Adu Gyamfi Kumanin so he should leave the Kwapra stool immediately.

Otumfuo then promised to personally intervene to make sure that the numerous land issues in Kwapra, which were caused by the destooled chief, are resolved.

As a reminder, the Asante King has destooled a number of chiefs under his jurisdiction over gross misconduct this year at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

Significantly, most of the chiefs that have been destooled by the Asantehene, were found culpable for engaging in double sale of lands, resulting in land disputes.
