Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Abdalfattah A. K. Alsatarri, last Friday, presented over 600 bags of rice to some Muslim families from various parts of Accra as part of the Embassy’s support to Ghanaians ahead of this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

Muslims from Nima, Mamobi, Fadama, and Pig Farm, among others, were each given a 5kg bag of rice for the period of fasting which would end with the Eid El Fitr,

Mr. Alsatarri was joined at the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Accra by some Muslim clerics, a pastor, and Mr. Kwasi Pratt, a famous journalist.

Mr. Alsatarri stated that the gesture was intended to thank the Ghanaian government for its enormous support and solidarity for the people of Palestine over the years.

As a Palestinian, he recognized Ghana’s and many other countries’ solidarity in condemning Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory.

His outfit, he explained, was also meant to reciprocate the love and generosity shown by Ghanaians to some Muslim communities during the Ramadan fasting month.

Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, spokesman for the National Chief Imam, expressed appreciation to the Ambassador for the gesture, describing it as a true example of faith defying injustice and oppression to reach out to some Muslims in Ghana.

“It teaches us a lesson that whatever small we have we must have some soft spot in our heart to be able to show love and support each other,” he added

The assembled people prayed for God’s blessings on the people of the State of Palestine and thanked the Ambassador for his kindness.
