Management of Ghana’s number one food joint, Papaye Fast Foods Company Limited, has inaugurated a nine-member board of directors for its modern recreational village located at Konkonuru near Aburi in the Eastern Region.
The Papaye Recreational Village, which is located on a 130-acre site, is to serve as a relaxation and event centre, and help to promote tourism in the country; and phase one of the project is expected to be commissioned soon.
The recreational village has facilities such as a playing ground, zoo, restrooms, swimming pools, landscaping, outdoor auditorium, castle-like fences and gates, trees within their natural habitat, parking space, green serene environment and a museum among others.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Executive Chairman of Papaye Fast Foods, Samir Kalmoni, said the facility was one of the ecotourism hubs that the company had constructed to enhance the tourism industry in the country.
He pointed out that the site and the environment were expected to attract tourists around the world due to its natural beautification.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Papye Fast Food Limited, Divine Asiedu, on his part, said the facility was the finest tourism hub with an eco-friendly touch to suit visitors and tourists in their bid to have a feel of realization in a serene environment.
The CEO revealed that his outfit would, in December, open the recreational village to the public.
In a speech read on his behalf by Ms. Juliet Asabea Obeng, the Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Daffuor, said the government had put in place comprehensive measures to boost the tourism sector in Ghana. He commended Papaye highly for the project.
He advised management and staff to observe the Covid-19 protocols in all their working endeavors, saying it was part of efforts to fight the pandemic.
The Paramount Chief of Aburi Traditional Area, Nana Otubuor Gyan Kwasi II, who is a member of the board, said the recreational facility would receive the cooperation of the chiefs and people of Aburi.
He however thanked Papaye for choosing to set up a recreational village in the community.
