Some delegates of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asuogyaman Constituency of the Eastern Region yesterday ambushed the Chief Executive Officer of National Youth Authority (NYA), Pius Enam Hadzide with a nomination form to contest the Asuogyaman parliamentary seat in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the party.
Pius, a native of the constituency, who has lived and worked as a teacher in the area, was performing a sod-cutting ceremony at Senchi for the construction of an Astroturf park when the party members went to the constituency office to pick up the forms on his blindside and presented to him at the ceremony.
According to the party members mostly identified as “Friends of Pius”, they are calling on him to help secure the seat which the NPP lost to the NDC in the 2020 elections, adding that Pius is vibrant and can win the seat for the party in the 2024 general elections.
Mr. Hadzide, who had previously contested the Ketu North parliamentary seat in the Volta Region, after receiving the forms, thanked the youth for calling upon him to contest the Asuogyaman seat.
Addressing the crowd and the chiefs of the area, he expressed his vision to “transform the community and empower my people.”
He also pledged to attract businesses to the area and enhance the overall quality of life of residents.
