PMA Ghana To Host Intellectual Property Workshop

PMA Ghana, in partnership with Natural Intelligence Consultancy, will host a day workshop on creative arts business and intellectual property for creative arts stakeholders at the Airport View Hotel in Accra in Accra.

The workshop would educate participants on copyright laws protecting the right owners and other related laws, including laws on copyright infringement.

The workshop is part of measures put in place by the organisers to reshape and strengthen the activities of the copyright sector in the country.

As usual, it would feature some personalities in the creative industry who would share ideas and experiences with participants.

A structured and concise segment of this workshop would also avail participants with the legalities and policies of the industry as a whole, including copyright, publishing and licensing issues.

Some of the speakers to address participants are Benjamin O. Arhin Jnr. (creative arts business, intellectual property and cultural entrepreneurial initiatives consultant and a lecturer University of Education, Winneba), Kwame Boadi (managing director of Ingenious Africa), Prof. John Collins (lecturer at the University of Ghana),  Ms. Nana Adwoa Adobea Asante ( Director of Ghana National Folklore Board), Socrates Safo (Director at the National Commission on Culture), Kwasi Ofori Appiah (a police officer and founder of Watch Your Tongue), among others.

The speakers at the workshop would lead discussions to examine the area of intellectual property and copyrights within the creative arts fraternity.

The workshop is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 6 from 10:00 am to 2:00pm.

A replication of this workshop would be held in all the 16 regional capitals to spread the awareness of creative arts business and intellectual property.

According to Benjamin Oduro Arhin Jnr., the CEO of PMA Ghana Limited, the organisers would launch an event dubbed ‘A Creative Arts Business & Intellectual Property Awareness Day’ during the workshop.
