The Board of Directors, leadership, and entire membership of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Ghana, the premier professional body for Project, Programme, and Portfolio Management in Ghana, and the largest PMI Chartered Chapter in sub-Saharan Africa by membership, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to President-elect His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and his Vice-elect, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, on their election victory.
“The overwhelming endorsement received reflects the astounding faith the people of Ghana have placed in you and the NDC party. “This is a testament to their trust in your vision and leadership to steer the affairs of our beloved country for the next four years,” PMI said in a release.
It continued “As you prepare to take office on the 7th of January, 2025, we would like to remind you of the significant role that project management best practices can play in shaping the future of our nation. By leveraging key Project Management principles such as Stakeholder Engagement, Risk Management, Continuous Improvement and a prudent learned lessons framework, your administration can drive sustainable development and improve the living standards of all Ghanaians.”
It called on them to ensure they actively involve all stakeholders, including citizens, businesses, civil society and professional bodies, in the decision-making process will ensure that diverse perspectives are considered and that policies are inclusive and effective.
It also said identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks will help in the successful implementation of government projects and initiatives, ensuring that potential challenges are addressed proactively, while also embracing a culture of continuous improvement will enable your administration to adapt to changing circumstances, learn from past experiences, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of public services.
Compiling and utilising lessons learned from past projects is crucial for a National Project Management Framework.
