The suspectÂ
The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the alleged baby theft case at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra, sources reveal.
This confirmation follows a viral image showing a woman captured by the hospital’s CCTV camera allegedly wrapped a baby in cloth and getting out of the healthcare facility shortly after the mother delivered yesterday, February 17, 2026, around 7:02 a.m.
According to reports, the newborn baby was stolen from the Polyclinic hours after the mother underwent a C-section. CCTV footage captures the suspect (2nd frame) fleeing on a motorbike.
Later that afternoon, the baby’s relatives stormed the facility, accusing hospital staff of being involved. Heated confrontations were recorded on video, with one family member alleging the child had been stolen to be sold. Police have since launched an investigation.
As of the early hours of February 18, the baby remains missing and no arrests have been made. Unconfirmed reports suggest the suspect may be at another hospital, though that facility has denied any involvement.
