Police Kill Robber, 2 Arrested

A suspected armed robber has been gunned down by the police during a robbery attack at a block factory at Haatso in Accra.

Two other accomplices were arrested in the process but one managed to escape arrest.

The deceased has been identified as Julius Duvor, aka Digger, while the arrested suspects are Christian Anagbra, 38, and Emmanuel Gavor, 53.

The escaped suspect has also been identified only as Isaac, popularly called ‘My Brother’.

This comes barely eight hours after a security man was killed by suspected armed robbers at Ashongman Pure Water branch of a Goil Filling Station.

The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Efia Tenge, who briefed DAILY GUIDE, said police received information that some armed robbers were attempting to rob a block factory owner at Haatso.

She said the Regional Command dispatched personnel to the location to lay ambush and around 11:30am on Monday, four men besieged the premises of the company under the pretext of engaging in a business transaction.

The men who were armed, she said, insisted on seeing the chief executive officer of the company and in the process pulled out pistols in an attempt to take the workers on duty hostage amidst sporadic shooting but the police also returned fire, and one of the suspects was shot in the process.

She said the two therefore surrendered to the police but one managed to escape from the scene and has since been declared wanted.

DSP Tenge said, “We have retrieved a Millennium pistol with five rounds of ammunition from suspects who we suspect took part in the Goil Filling Station robbery leading to the death of the security officer.”
