The seven suspects
A WILD chase on foot between a group of policemen and some suspected wee smokers and dealers has resulted in the arrest of seven suspects.
Drama unfolded when the wee suspects, suddenly took to their heels when they saw policemen approaching them during a swoop on November 15, 2023. The security personnel therefore gave them a hot chase on foot, and they managed to apprehend seven male suspects, who are currently in police custody.
The incident happened when the Kuntenase District Police embarked on a swoop at wee ghettos at Aputuogya, Sewua and Esereso from 7pm to 9:30pm. Those arrested included Benjamin Amoako, 40 years old; Foster Boamah, 18 years old; Peter Oppong, 23 years and Kwame Kyei Achampong, 27 years old.
Also in police grips after the wild chase, are suspects Akwasi Anana Nyarko, 26 years old, Moses Agyekum, 20 years old and Marfo Isaac, 20 years old.
A police document, which confirmed the arrests, said the police operation was to help prevent wee smoking and selling so as to reduce crime in the area. The report said: ‘Suspects took to their heels when they saw police but police managed to arrest seven suspects, who have since been detained for screening’. According to the police document, which has been sighted by the DAILY GUIDE, the policemen found some exhibits at the scene to help in their investigations.
‘Exhibits, suspected to be Indian hemp and some narcotic drugs, were retrieved from them. Suspects are detained for screening. Those found culpable will be prosecuted in due course,’ police report stated.
