President Akufo-Addo with Prang Chief Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III
The Omanhene of Prang Traditional Area, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, has lauded President Akufo-Addo for bringing more development projects to his traditional area.
Nana Nyarko was speaking during this year’s Nkyifie Yam Festival of the chiefs and people of Prang in the Bono East Region.
Nana Nyarko said even though successive governments tried their best as far as the development of Prang Traditional Area is concerned, the area has not seen such an unprecedented development projects executed by the Akufo-Addo-led NPP administration.
He said portable water used to be the headache of the people of the area but through the efforts of the NPP administration, Prang can enjoy uninterrupted pipe borne water all year round.
He said with the creation of Prang as a new district, the town can boast of a new modern administration block.
The chief said unlike the years gone by when people of Prang had to travel all the way to Sunyani to lobby for feeder roads, with the creation of the New Bono East Region, Prang can boast of the headquarters of the Regional Feeder Roads office.
According to Nana Nyarko, what has made him more happy is the construction of a Cassava Processing Factory at Prang under the One District One Factory flagship programme of the NPP government.
He said the factory which is 99% complete will create employment for the youth and also go a long way to help the farmers, who cultivate cassava in large quantities to feed the factory.
Nana Nyarko seized the opportunity to appeal to all traditional areas to lobby for factories in their areas so that the issue of unemployment among the youth could be curtailed instead of constantly following politicians who seek for power to unduly criticise the government.
He said as a former Member of the Council of State and former President of the then Brong Ahafo House of Chiefs, he will never hesitate to work with any chief who needs his help in the area of development.
“The national cake is there for everybody to access but if you sit in your area and think you will get things on a silver platter, you must think again because the era of chiefs sitting in their palaces alone waiting for goodies from the central government is no more,” he admonished.
