Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie says basic hygiene measures like protective gear would make a big difference in business for roadside vendors.
Street food is a daily staple for millions in Ghana, yet hygiene issues persist, with the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) warning against food sold near open gutters and recent trainings in Madina showing how cleanliness builds trust and boosts earnings.
In a post on X, the rapper said, “Only if roadside food vendors knew how much of a difference it would make in their sales if they took hygiene a bit more seriously. Simple things like gloves, nose masks, hair caps, etc would go a long way and boost sales significantly.”
The post has generated a lot of reactions on social media, with many calling on city authorities to intensify advocacy on hygiene maintenance in the country.
