Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah- Kofi Buah and CEO of Q8 Mining Ventures, David Dakudzi

Management of Q8 Mining Ventures has denied allegations circulating on social media and within some National Democratic Congress (NDC) circles that the firm is involved in unauthorised mining operations, commonly referred to as Galamsey.

The management thus assured residents of communities surrounding the operational areas of Q8 Mining Ventures in the Eastern Region, that the company is not engaged in illegal mining as is being bandied about.

According to the company, its activities are conducted within the country’s mining regulations framework and under the supervision of the appropriate state agencies such as the Minerals Commission.

Speaking with journalists, Operations Director of the company, Michael Quashi, stated that Q8 Mining Ventures possesses all the required licenses and permits to undertake its exploration and mining activities legally.

He emphasised that the company remained committed to responsible mining practices that protect the environment and benefit host communities.

The company further explained that it has invested heavily in land reclamation projects, water protection measures and community development initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable operations.

Management further noted that unlike illegal miners who often abandon degraded lands, Q8 Mining Ventures has adopted modern methods that minimize environmental impact.

Community leaders in some of the company’s operational areas also defended the firm against accusations of engaging in galamsey.

According to them, the company has maintained a transparent relationship with traditional authorities and residents by regularly engaging them on its activities and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Spokesperson for the local youth association, Baba Sani, indicated that the company has created employment opportunities for many young people in the area, reducing the temptation for residents to engage in illegal mining.

Sani added that the firm has also supported educational and health projects within nearby communities.
